“It better be what you want!” — Madonna - 4 Minutes feat. Justin Timberlake & Timbaland (Official Video)
Since 2011, I’ve imagined a game: It’s a huge mountain where you start from the top, far above the clouds, and navigate paths to the bottom. Careening nearly out of control, the emphasis is on managing speed—and choosing a path at each fork in the road. Some paths offer power-ups. Others hide obstacles. The terrain and spectacle are endlessly varied.
There’s no “wrong” choice—just different outcomes. Some paths lead to positive outcomes, while others lead to difficulty. But even the “bad” paths yield opportunities.
This game? It’s not just a game. It’s a metaphor for life—the one you’re living right now. The point is to show that every choice leads somewhere. And in every moment, you’re always exactly where you’re meant to be.
The challenges never cease. No judgement. Just the path forward. No matter the choice, every path offers a multitude of possibilities.
In life, your destiny unfolds before you, yet your self-sovrienty remains absolute. So… What do you want?
The direction you choose will always teach you something. You can learn the easy way, or the hard way. “Easy” isn’t good. “Hard” isn’t bad. “Easy” may be slow. “Hard” is often fast.
At trackdays, during the morning briefing, we are reminded that “slow is smooth, smooth is fast.” Slow down. Find the line—the optimum place on the racetrack. Find your balance. Relax. Repeat.
One way to slow down is to sit still, and breathe. When no other choice seems quite right, take a moment to breathe.
Find your balance. Get clear on your aim. Relax. Then act with grace.
For engineers, “close enough” is an axiom. You can aim at perfection—but you don’t have to be perfect. Just do your best.
Pay attention. And, remember to have fun!
