The Five Love Languages As Duality

It doesn’t appear that there are more than five love languages. But there are fewer.

Being in love—and nothing else—is the only love language.

It is the love that I touched as baby Alex lay on my chest. True, there was touch. But the feeling I encountered in those moments went beyond words… beyond touch… beyond time… beyond gifts… and beyond service. It was a gift… but it was far more.

If we are to know God’s love, we must seek love without duality; a level entirely apart from our world.

Touch requires separation. Words are symbols. Gifts require a giver and a receiver. Shared quality time requires someone to share with. And service requires a server and the one, or those, served.

All these forms of love are beautiful acts within our physical reality. To the extent that anything we perceive is real, these moments are the most real.

But there is a level of reality beyond what we perceive.

At the highest level, there is nothing else; only love remains. It is a pure and complete state of being that is beyond our understanding. Any attempt to put that state into words would mean that it has not been described. But it can be experienced.

For me, my love for baby Alex was the bridge. The touch of her small body on my chest was the connection that allowed me to step into that realm. The music that played, opened my heart to love. As I wept, I knew that I had encountered something… and someone… special.

Only now, do I see more clearly. It wasn’t just my baby girl… I touched, or more exactly, was touched, gently, by Love.
