You Could Be The Right One

April 5, 2025

“Could it be the right time? Could it be the right one?” — Röyksopp, “Stay Awhile” (feat. Susanne Sundfør)

A heart-shaped nebula suspended in deep cosmic space — smooth, dense, molten. The heart-form is unmistakable and cohesive — not squiggly or chaotic — with confident, flowing gaseous mass. Pure orange and orange-red dominate throughout, with warm amber highlights along the outer edges and softer molten-yellow at the fiery core. Rich, dense clouds of glowing gas — think Hubble deep-field nebula-photograph, painterly and photographic at once. The heart shape holds its silhouette clearly against the deep-black void. Scattered pinpoint stars quietly across the background, distant and delicate. No teal, no pink, no magenta — this is a warm-monochromatic FIRE-heart, all ember and glow and amber. The core burns brightest, the edges soften into darker orange-brown. Painterly, dense, cohesive, powerful, warm. Love as a stellar furnace — smooth, deep, unmistakable.

Susanne’s voice in this song is hauntingly beautiful. A whisper in the dark. A longing that echoes through the spaces between heartbeats.

In 2001, I found myself alone for the first time in my life. Truly alone. My children were with me half the time—and the other half? Silence. Not the kind that soothes, but the kind that leaves you aching. It was the kind of loneliness that strips away everything artificial. No more masks. No more distractions. Just the raw, unfiltered ache of an open soul.

Work was brutal. Unreal II—the dream project—had turned into a slow-motion train wreck. We recovered, barely, in that final year. But in truth, I was holding on by threads. The noise inside my heart made it almost impossible to hear anything else.

And then, in February 2003, everything changed.

Joanne.

She entered quietly. No drama. No declarations. Just a presence—light, adventurous, full of joy. She made me feel alive again. Not because she completed me, but because she reminded me that I was still whole.

“If you want to stay the night, I promise I’ll keep it secret…”

She didn’t need to keep secrets. But she understood discretion, care, and timing. She respected the delicate unfolding of something new. And I… I wasn’t looking for a miracle. But I found one anyway.

Over twenty-two years later, the miracles continue.

It didn’t fix everything. But it changed everything.

There’s something sacred about meeting the right person at the right time—even if you don’t realize it in the moment. The heart remembers long before the mind catches up.

“It’s gotta be the right time. It’s gotta be the right one.”

Sometimes, it is.

And when it is—you know.
