A Neon Sign Held High By A Kayaker

June 12, 2022

“So, why would you change when I love every part of you? You” — Neon by Livingston

A still narrow coastal lagoon (about 80 feet across) at golden hour, the water like warm glass holding the last of the sun, soft warm-gold and amber tones across sky and water. Camera looks STRAIGHT ACROSS the lagoon (not down its length) to the opposite bank - a well-manicured grass lawn sloping gently down to the water's edge, with a mature pine forest rising up behind the grass, the pines catching soft golden-hour glow on their tops. Foreground - the bottom edge of a weathered wood-slat balcony railing running parallel to the lower frame, plain and quiet, viewer-anchor. Middle-focus, close to camera - a lone kayaker in a yellow sea-kayak filling significant portion of the middle-frame, clearly visible, holding aloft above their head a large glowing neon-magenta sign - the sign has a BRIGHT ELECTRIC-NEON MAGENTA EDGE glowing hot pink, with a TRANSLUCENT LIGHTER CENTER (like a real neon-tube-lit sign, not a solid slab), no text or words. The bright edge glows against the golden dusk. The sign reflects into the still water beneath, magenta blaze rippling. Soft haze, cinematic stillness. Trust the geometry.
The SignIvy

With the extended family in Hilton Head in 2017, I read a book E-Squared by Pam Grout. It was a set of scientifically structured experiments you could run yourself to discover forces beyond the physical world. One of the first experiments was to ask God / the Universe / your higher Self / whatever force you’re most comfortable connecting with—to give you a sign: a flashing, neon-magenta, highly personalized sign that makes it clear to you that they’re present, real and operating in your life.

I ran two “experiments” that summer, and got two wonderfully brilliant flashing neon signs.

Once again, back in Hilton Head in 2022, one evening, after listening to Christina Lopes talk about our spirit guides in 5 EASY Steps to Connect with Your Spirit Guide | YouTube, who they are, and how to connect with them—I decided to run the E-Squared “experiment” again.

17:22, I asked for a “neon sign.” I asked for an answer within an hour—before 18:22.

“Gotcha.”

Two kayakers passed by.

17:29, after changing my shirt to go out shopping, I stepped out onto the deck from my bedroom overlooking the lagoon behind our home.

The second kayaker is an older guy. As he approaches, he looks up and says:

So a guy in Montana with a brand new Maserati wants to see how fast it’ll go.
At 180 mph, he sees a cop in his rear view mirror.
After he pulls the guy over, the cop says, if you can tell me a story I haven’t heard, I’ll let you go.
The guy says: “My wife left me for a cop. When I saw you, I thought you were trying to bring her back.”
The cop said, “Sir, have a good day.”

…I laughed. Without another word, the kayaker paddled onward!

Neon sign. Check!
