What Do You Want To Be?

March 24, 2011

'A photorealistic overhead shot of a child''s crayon drawing on lined school paper, the word happy written in wobbly pencil in a blank labeled to fill in. A yellow crayon rests beside it. Warm desk light, a corner of small hands just leaving the frame. Cinematic quiet, the assignment answered honestly.'

It’s really quite simple…

When I was 5 years old, my mom always told
me that happiness was the key to life. When I
went to school, they asked me what I wanted
to be when I grew up. I wrote down “happy.”
They told me I didn’t understand the assignment.
I told them they don’t understand life.

You don't have to understand it all at once. Instead, ask the questions that keep you aligned:

Who do I want to be with?

What do I want to create?

What brings me alive?

There's more than happiness. Beyond happiness, seek joy.

And when you feel joy—that’s how you know you’re back on your path.
