Passion, Experience & Growth
No Clear Path
December 24, 2020
“there is no clear career path anymore”
Was there ever a clear path?
Many of the traditional career paths remain from the 20th century: doctor, lawyer, teacher, fireman, and policeman—though that last saw its share of cultural rebranding attempts in 2020.
The challenge of this era is that anything is possible. With an infinite range of choices, we encounter decision paralysis. Fear of lost opportunity. Fear of the sacrifice that comes with choice; to pursue one path is to sacrifice all the others.
Move forward courageously. Pick a path forward, build your skills, pursue your passion, and pivot when it’s time.
You can always change your mind. But don’t give up too soon.
Work to understand what you want most. Work toward that. If you find that you were mistaken, make a change. Choose again!
Very few can see their career path looking forward. It’s only when looking back that you can connect the dots and see how you’ve built a career.
